The region
The Khumbu is Nepal's most storied valley: Sherpa villages strung like prayer beads between Lukla and the icefall, yak trains on stone stairways, and the smell of juniper at Tengboche Monastery. Every day ends with a bigger mountain than the last.
Fly into the world's most famous mountain airstrip, walk beneath Ama Dablam's impossible tower, and stand where the ice begins at Everest Base Camp — or see it all before lunch on a helicopter flight with a breakfast stop at 3,880m.
